March 26th, 2009

Codemasters have announced that they have secured the Formula One license which will allow them to develop a series of Formula One games across multiple platforms and multiple years.

They have not published the official name yet, but "Formula One 2009 / F1 - The Game" is an un-official name for the first game in the series.

They were planning to release the game in late 2009 but the latest news stated that the release date will be delayed to 2010.

Following the acquisition of the Sega Racing Studio, codemasters Studios, creators of genre-leading racing titles Colin McRae: DiRTâ„¢ and Race Driver: GRIDâ„¢, will lead the design and development of official FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP games for home console, handheld and PC gaming formats. There are now 350 people working on the Formula One project. PC owners will be happy to know that the game has officially been confirmed for the PC as well as Playstation 3 and XBOX 360.

According to Codemasters the game will be aimed at both simulation fans as well as those new to the genre and the American market.
