Activision’s Earnings Report Hint At Possible New Games

August 11th, 2009

Yesterday, Activision announced their earnings report for the last quarter. They have announced that they made giant $200 million profit on a $1 billion earnings. However, the hidden piece of video game news behind this announcement is the hint at some new games that are currently in development.

Deep within the report there were some hints dropped that we could soon be seeing new Spiderman, James Bond and Tony Hawk games. Currently the Spiderman game and the Tony Hawk game has not been confirmed, however, as for the Bond games, the president of Activision, Mike Griffth has confirmed it. Unfortunately, no other information was given out, just that is was being produced at the moment.

The previous James Bond game was released by Activision, and it proved to be one of the most succesful Bond games to date. That game got gamers playing through 2 different films, Casino Royale and the latest one, Quantum of Solace. That game had been built by Treyarch, the masters behind many Call of Duty games, probably why it grabbed to many good video game ratings. However, nothing was said as to whether Treyarch would be making this new Bond game.

Also, nothing was mentioned about what the story of the game would be based on. So really the game could go in any direction, it could follow a new story, a previous film, or possibly be a prequel for another film.

As for the other 2 games rumoured at, there were some details going around recently about a possible new Spiderman film, which would imply a new game was also being developed. Finally, the Tony Hawks game, personally I don’t think so because with Tony Hawk: Ride being released in November , I don’t believe they would try and release a second so quickly after Ride. But who knows, we’ll have to wait a hear what comes out.
