How Can We Utilize Bamboo Canes To Improve Our Homes?
May 29th, 2009At the moment we are surrounded by so many out of the ordinary types of décor to equip our homes with. We have such a varied and wide spectrum to make our choices from. In modern homes you will in all likelihood realize that one or two pieces of abstract art don the walls here and there, but frequently there may perhaps be the odd big reprinted photograph of a building like The Eiffel Tower, Picadilly Circus, The Statue of Liberty or even The New York Skyline to add a touch of realism!
Yet, we do use more than just pictures to personalise and give our homes a convivial feel to them. In any case, we do want to be able to rest, listen to cd’s, watch TV, and by and large chill out after a day at work.
Frequently the recent trends may incline towards simplicity, so in this scenario you may simply require a couple of items in the room to achieve this. I, in contrast, am continually experimenting with things. Thus I freely admit that my rooms are cluttered!
People in general, spend hours wandering around the stores trying to make up their minds precisely what to choose for their individual space. It is not always easy and often people find it hard to make an agreement and compromise.
Candles are a popular option with so many varieties at the present, which of an evening, create an intimate atmosphere. One thing is certain though, these additional knick-knacks time and again do not come cheaply and so many are mass produced, taking away any uniqueness.
And this in mind I got more or less to thinking what could you arrange, for example, in a corner to make an impact, but yet not take over the room. Yes, I came up with cane!
So, if you go to any good garden centre, hardware or DIY store, you should be able to purchase some bamboo canes. Now, I had in mind the full length ones plus in addition, not necessarily the typical thin ones that you grow your runner beans on. Really what you could do with is some of the thicker sort. In essence, about an inch to one and a quarter inches thick.
Overall, if you want them for a corner, get ten. The other factor is you can also get them in colours at present. For this project I suggest that a pale green would be ideal. Once you get these, you will require some covered florist’s wire to fasten them all collectively, about halfway down, ensuring that the canes at the base half are part twisted so that they splay out. As soon as you believe that these are balanced then go round the tie two or three times to fix this, with some hard-wearing twine.
The next step is to join some lofty imitation flowers along with a big head to them and force them down all the way through the string. Large red poppies or else sunflowers would be splendid for this. Additional to this you really require some long ferns, or stems, with green leaves on. At this point, to add more strength to your fastening, you could coordinate a belt of around eight inches of green plastic netting all round, crossing it at the face resembling an x, and secure it in the centre. Then again, you can do something similar with a piece of chiffon, or a fine long scarf.
Another option would be to suspend pine cones or else string balls from it. Now too, you can buy twigs and flowers which are beaded. Evidently you can modify this to your personal requirements and preferences!
